"Hello EMS Challenge Parents (and students)!

It is Governor's School application season for me at the high school and it got me thinking about what makes students competitive candidates.  The answer?  Well, beyond good grades and taking a challenging course load, one of the most influential things is participating in activities in and outside of school in a significant way.  For example, if a student is applying to the vocal music Summer Residential Governor's School, then it is really helpful for them to have experiences in that field beyond being in chorus at school.  The more independent and activity, the more leadership involved, the longer the involvement, the better.

So, today I wanted to remind you of some programs I mentioned in the last newsletter as well as share some new ones (some courtesy of parents, so if you know of some cool program for middle or high school students, let me know so I can let others know).  In this email I'm providing links to Doodle4Google, DI Casting Call, Expanding Your Horizons, and a preview of Valley Ridge Governor's School..."
