Start Planning Now for Summer 2018"On this snowy day I wanted to share some thoughts of fun things to do in the Spring and Summer sun, things that will help you as you go forward because they develop your skills and interests.

How to Enhance your Application"Since it's Governor's School application season for me at the high school (and soon the middle school), it got me thinking about what makes students competitive candidates to any program. The answer? Well, beyond good grades and taking a challenging course load, one of the most influential things is participating in activities in and outside of school in a significant way. For example, if a student is applying to the vocal music Summer Residential Governor's School, then it is really helpful for them to have experiences in that field beyond being in chorus at school. The more independent and activity, the more leadership involved, the longer the involvement, the better.
So, if you're in 9th grade, listen up because you can apply to Massanutten Regional Governor's School next year and NOW is the time to start looking at ways to build your application. You can also apply to Summer Residential Governor's School programs as a sophomore and junior. If you're in 10th grade this is still relevant to you because you can still apply to SRGS programs as a junior and it is never too early to look at building your college application or resume. If you're in 11th grade, build up your college application and resume with unique experiences that show what you're passionate about. If you're in 12th grade, this still applies to you because extracurriculars are still relevant for resumes and job applications and scholarships/opportunities to earn money are ALWAYS relevant. Wow future employers with your experiences and enhanced skill set." Read the rest in the newsletter. Subscribe today so you don't miss out! "Hello EMS Challenge Parents (and students)!
